Your website matters more than ever.

Your website matters more than ever.

It’s safe to say that you can’t go anywhere without seeing social media images plastered everywhere. Businesses are seeing the value in social media and for the most part taking part or are ready to take part to build a strong relationship with people online. There is only one problem, people are putting a huge push into social media but are leaving the most important online presence outdated and tired. This of course is their website. Most businesses who jump on the social media wagon forget that it is critical to have their platforms embedded right into their website. The more eyes on your social media outlets the better.

Websites are more important than ever. If you are a business and your beginning your journey in social media chances are you are trying to get your message across and drive your traffic to your website to generate more business. There is nothing worse then being on a Facebook page that is custom and presented in a fantastic way and then go to the businesses website and see something that is boring, outdated and not inline with the Facebook page they just left.

Here are some key points why you NEED to pay attention to your website:

1. Social media leads to your website – Everything you do, whether it is a blog post, video on YouTube, Facebook post or tweet, you have a goal. You need to get interactive with your audience and create a call to action where they are brought to a area to view what it is you are doing or selling and try to convert them into a client. These are the kinda of actions that should happen on a website. The last thing you want to happen is to get people to the point where they are ready to buy something from you and then see your website and decide to pass because its outdated or inaccurate.

2. Your website is here to stay – As we have seen in the past a lot of social media tools come and go but your website hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s still there waiting for you! Remember MySpace? Unless you want to listen to some underground indie artist chances are you don’t and if you do thats probably the only reason you go there, but it didn’t used to be. Facebook took over. We’re already seeing this with Google+. How many of you have Google+? Now how many of you actually use it? I know with me I log in once every two weeks maybe and my stream is more or less the same as when I logged on last. Not much motivation to continue using it. There are always going to be social media tools but we don’t know how long they are going to be popular.

3. You’re in control with your website – With your website you know where you stand. You can make the changes as you please or have your designer make your changes but at least you know what you say goes. With social media you never know. Facebook is an obvious example, the constant releases and upgrades they are doing as of late are always keeping us on our toes. You have to adapt to Facebook’s changes. Don’t expect a call from Facebook saying, “Hey we’re going to make some changes with a new release, you cool with that?” Probably not going to happen. If it does, wow.

4. Websites provide all the details. With your website you can really explain everything you have to offer, showcase what you have and really take control of the user experience. There are so many things on Facebook that you can click on and just lose the potential clients interest. Social media outlets like Facebook business pages are really there to give people a taste of what you do and capture their attention. Ok, so you have their attention, now what? Well, bring them to your website and let them know what you have to offer. If a client is on your website they are there for a reason, hopefully to buy something.

5. Your website brings it all together. Your website is your central reference of your branding and message you want to get across to the public. With dozens of different ways to market your business it is easy to get your message mixed up but your website should eliminate that. Obviously your social media campaigns are extremely important, but your website is integral for all of your effort and time you put into your social media platforms. You don’t want to end up having a social media platform that replaces your website, you want them to enhance your website and make it social and interactive!

Do you have a website right now? Is it matching your branding and where you want it to be? We can help.

I am building a Facebook page right now and I think it does a good job of marketing for me. Do I really need to have a website too?

Facebook is definitely a great marketing tool but what are you marketing? You can only get so much information out to a follower on Facebook. If you drive traffic to your website through your hard work you are giving the user more of a chance to get more information. The more information, the bigger chance you have of converting them into a client.

      Thanks for the post!
